Labomobil© is in Guinea!

P1120162_267x200 We are thrilled about the arrival of the Labomobil© in Guinea. It recently reached us from Germany, where the vehicle was outfitted with state-of-the-art laboratory equipment. Preparations for its deployment are underway. We have put together a group of experts who will be planning and overseeing the laboratory’s operations, including our own project manager, Dr. Barry, as well as members of the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), the Ministry of Health (MOH), the National Pharmacy and Laboratory Directors (DNPL) and staff members from our partners, Agence de Medicine Preventive (AMP). The generosity of CGG Veritas, will allow us to properly train staff to run the Labomobil©, as well as peripheral lab personnel.

In anticipation of the Labomobil©’s arrival, our team conducted a thorough assessment of the 87 existing hospitals and health centers in Coastal Guinea and the results were startling. Less than a third of these facilities meet the MOH minimum operating standards. None have reliable electricity or running water, which are essential for a working laboratory. Clearly, there is a lot of work to be done and we can’t wait to get started. CGG Veritas, a leading international pure-play geophysical company, has generously awarded AFG a grant to train the necessary personnel to run the laboratory and the peripheral facilities.

  • AFG needs your help! We depend on contributions from foundations, companies and individuals to continue our work in Guinea.

Our primary goal is to assist hospitals and health centers in Guinea who care for the welfare of the Guinean population. We do this by providing medical aid, improving and upgrading existing infrastructure in health facilities and implementing disease prevention and treatment programs.

We also aim to improve the overall quality of life of the population by supporting and promoting economic growth and technical development.

    You can make a difference!
